Our Policies

At Patience For Paws, we are passionate about making a seamless process for the pet parents we work with. Here are all of our policies in one place for your convenience.

*All new clients must review and agree to these policies prior to any services*

  • A $15 deposit is required before any sessions that occur in person, this will come out of your total price of the session, it is not in addition to the cost of the session or services. This is in case of any no-show situations.

  • A full refund will be offered in case of cancellation before 3 hours of the scheduled session, within 3 hours of the appointment only the deposit will not be refunded, the rest of the purchase however will be refunded if it was prepaid. For services that didn’t require a deposit, a full refund will be offered in the case of cancelation at any point before the service has started. If cancelation occurs during/after the session is set to begin, a 50% refund will be offered.

  • We require pet parents to attend all sessions for the whole duration of the session. Pet parents will be involved and active in the training process to ensure success. This does not apply to enrichment sessions.

  • We ask that pet parents come prepared to participate in the sessions including bringing training treats, leash, and/or harness, and may be asked to bring multiple types of treats depending on each session. Your trainer will come prepared with these items as well.

  • During the sessions the pet parents are still the responsible party for their pet.

  • Patience For Paws is a positive reinforcement-only training facility. This means we only exercise the positive reinforcement and negative punishment parts of the 4 quadrants of operant conditioning theory. Positive reinforcement is the only scientifically proven method to teach dogs properly. To align with the positive reinforcement philosophy, any shock, prong, or choke collars are prohibited and will be removed if they are present during the session. As well as we ask for no retractable leashes to be present during sessions as well to prevent injury or to avoid the consequences of the leash failing and losing control over the dog.

  • In accordance with the scientific research supporting positive reinforcement training, we also do not subscribe to any beliefs followed under the alpha theory including: scruffing a dog, dominating or “being alpha” to a dog, leash corrections, yelling at the dog, any physical corrections towards the dog, pinning a dog, etc. if these practices are observed during the sessions they will be stopped and if adherence to this continues to be an issue the session will end.
